What is GDPR Anonymization?
GDPR anonymization is the process of removing or transforming personal data so that it can no longer be attributed to a specific individual, even when combined with other information. Under GDPR Article 4(5), properly anonymized data falls outside the regulation's scope.
Unlike pseudonymization (which can be reversed), true anonymization is irreversible. However, many use cases require reversible anonymization(pseudonymization with encryption) to maintain data utility while protecting privacy.
